You speak IFRS?

Down to Business

If your head is still spinning from SOX, get ready for an even bigger headache from IFRS.

I think I see the point in harmonizing accounting languages but I mean if you really want to do the whole investing community a huge favor, start by making sure that all foreign public markets (where Americans do a large amount of investing) are obligated to follow SOX or something as stringent. Fraud, corruption, embezzlement and theft are rampant like disease in foreign markets.

If Americans have to abandon GAAP for IFRS, then we should ram SOX down everyone else’s necks just to keep the playing field even.

But no need to worry right now though…there is still plenty of time to pick up the new rules.

You have until 2014.

I passed the CPA exams in the spring. It hardly mentioned IFRS.
